The Children’s Ministry

History

The Children’s Ministry of the Trinity United Church began alongside the main Church with the Trinity Theological Seminary students outreach programme at the staff quarters of the University of Ghana in the mid 1960’s. The Ministry has remained a lively component of the church. The children within the Ministry come from different backgrounds and share experiences with their colleagues. Mission The ultimate purpose of our Children’s Ministry is to point children to God through Jesus Christ and proclaim who God is and what He has done. We believe that we exist for the glory of God (Isa 43:6-7). Therefore, in our Children’s Ministry, we seek to do all things to magnify the greatness of God (1Cor 10:31). Our design therefore provides children with an opportunity to worship God and to hear God’s Word taught in an engaging way while their parents are in the adult service. Children are encouraged to worship God through singing, fun activities, and an age-appropriate God-centered Bible lesson using Powerpoint presentations, CDs and other audio-visual materials. We also inculcate the discipline of scripture memorization.

Greeting: ‘Children - (response) Abide in Christ’.

Membership

Membership is open to all children up to the age of 15 years (or JHS 3). The Ministry has a membership of approximately 350 children who are supervised by 25 teachers and 10 nannies, headed by a Superintendent and a six-member executive body. Of the 350 children, 60% are girls and 40% are boys. The children are grouped into 8 classes for teaching based on their age and/or stage in school.

Class Groupings

We also engage the children in different Extra Curricular activities after Church Service groups based on their interest and talent; these include Choir, Choreography, Brigade and Drama.

Teachers have 2 training and 2 retreat sessions annually to help us serve these children God has entrusted to our care. We hereby appeal for more teachers as the teacher to child ratio is woefully inadequate. Annually the Ministry receives between 2 to 4 students from the Seminary to observe and support the work.

Conclusion and Invitation For the Christ-Centred training of your child, look no further. We are happy and privileged to welcome you, your child/children aboard our Sunday School Ministry. For us as teachers, its always an opportunity to serve children.

Children……. Abide in Christ!
